The first solar electric system funded by the Neighborhood Solar Program was installed at Haman Elementary School
in October 2004. The 4.6 kilowatt system is similar to a large residential system in size and was installed by a local company, REGrid Power
. Included with the solar system is an educational display to show how much power is being generated
The second installation of the Neighborhood Solar Program went online in April 2007 and is located at the Valley Village Retirement Center
. Installed by REGrid Power
, the system generates up to 7.6 kilowatts of clean solar electricity. You can see how much power is being generated
and the corresponding savings in greenhouse gases.
Our third solar installation occurred at the Bill Wilson Center
in November 2010 and is 11.5 kilowatts in size. Installed by Vista Solar
, the system is expected to save the facility over $2,000 per year in energy costs and eliminate emission of 19,654 pounds (almost ten tons) of carbon dioxide annually.
