Never Go to a Gas Station Again
The rumors are true – electric vehicles can be plugged into a simple household outlet and don’t require any special installation.
EV Charging at Home
Electric vehicles do not require gasoline and can be charged at home with a standard 120 volt wall outlet. Also known as Level 1 charging, this is a great solution for overnight charging at home and does not require installation of additional charging equipment.
If you need a faster charge between 4-6 hours, a 240 volt Level 2 charger can be installed but requires installation of additional charging equipment by a qualified electrician or installer. Silicon Valley Power offers an online Marketplace where residential customers can shop for electric vehicle chargers, connected home devices and more!
Silicon Valley Power’s Choose Your EV web-tool is your one-stop shop to search available rebates through local, state and federal programs.
EV Charging for Renters
As more Santa Clarans adopt EVs, the ability to charge these vehicles at their apartment or condominium will become increasingly important. Silicon Valley Power provides technical assistance and resources to multifamily property owners to help them install EV charging stations.
Silicon Valley Power offers EV charging station rebates for multifamily housing properties. There is additional funding for projects that meet equity criteria such as multifamily housing units that provide below market rental units.
