You will no longer receive monthly electric bills. Instead you will be charged on an annual basis. This allows you to net your usage and PV production over a year as they will vary from season to season. Although you will receive an electric bill once a year, Silicon Valley Power will continue to provide monthly statements to show your current status within your billing cycle.

	Bill Date - This is the date the bill was generated. True-Up Month - This is the month in which your Annual Net Metering Bill will be generated. Amount Due - See below Customer Service - The customer service number to contact for questions regarding your utility bill.
	Meter Charge - This is the minimum monthly charge to maintain electric utility services. All electric customers pay this fee. Energy Charge - Retail value of the Net-Energy Consumed and/or Produced for the current Net Metering year.  A positive value means that for the year you were a Net-Energy Consumer of electricity whereas a negative value means that your PV system generated an overall excess amount of energy for the year. The dollar value shown is the retail value of the electricity, if you were a Net-Energy Producer the excess generation will be converted to the generation rate for purchase by Silicon Valley Power unless you previously elected to roll your kilowatt hours (kWh) forward to the next Net Metering year. Public Benefit Charge - A state-mandated charge for investing in energy efficiency, renewable energy, low income and new emerging technology programs.  State Surcharge - Tax used to help fund the California Energy Commission.
	Solar Generation Buy-back and Rollover kWh Credit - If you are a Net-Energy Producer for the year, your excess kWh will be be purchased at the Generation Rate indicated per kWh. If you previously elected to roll your kWh forward (Option 2), then your excess kWh will be carried forward into the next Net Metering year.
	Bill Comments - Information about whether or not you are a Net-Energy Producer or Net-Energy Consumer for the current Net Metering year.
	Usage History Table - Table showing the monthly meter readings and energy usage charges for the Net Metering year.
	Annual Energy Usage Summary - Summary of Net-Energy Consumed and/or Produced for the current Net Metering year.
	Amount Due - Amount due to the Utility for the current Net Metering year after incorporating all prior payments and/or account credits. If you are a Net-Energy Producer for the year, unless your excess generation credits exceed the minimum monthly charges, you will still owe a small amount to cover minimum charges.

Below is a sample of a monthly statement showing your electric usage.  This is not a bill.

Our residential rates have two tiers; tier one is 0-300 kWh and tier two is everything over 300 kWh during the monthly cycle. 	Monthly Energy Usage - This graph shows your NET monthly energy usage or production in kilowatt hours since your last annual true-up.
	Payment History - History of payments made on the account, may include past payments for previous net metering cycle.
	Electric Usage Table - Includes meter reading totals for previous months, current monthly cycle, and the total net metering accruals to-date. The dollar balances shown however are not reflective of actual balance owed.
	Account Balance - A running total of Net Metering account as of stated month. Please note the Electric Net Metering Monthly Statement is only a statement and no balance is due until your Annual Net Metering Bill

At the end of your annual billing cycle, you may have a negative net energy usage, meaning you were net producer and exported more electricity to the grid than you consumed. If you are a Net-Energy Producer, you have three options for your excess energy:

1. Get paid and credit your account (Default).  Silicon Valley Power will purchase your excess energy at the Generation Buy-back rate specified on your Annual Net Energy Metering Bill.  Your excess energy payment will first be used to offset Other Charges that you may have and the remainder will be credited to your account as a monetary value, or upon request, mail to you.
2. Get paid in full. Similar to option 1, however, instead of offsetting Other Charges or crediting your account, a check will be mailed to you for the fill buy-back amount.  Note that you will have a balance due for Other Charges.
3. Rollover your credits. Rollover your excess energy in kilowatt hours (kWh) credits to the next Net Metering year.
